Framingham United Soccer Club

The fall season begins on Saturday, September 11. You should be contacted by your coach by Monday, Sept. 6

Chris Swain, Framingham’s only A‐Licensed coach and an excellent teacher of the game, has agreed to run an example practice for the benefit of all FUSC coaches. This practice will be run using a U12 girls team at Merchant Road. Please be at Merchant by 6PM on Thursday, September 2, to watch how a practice is run by an accomplished soccer coach. Chris will be providing handouts, and will be happy to answer questions. See you there!

Chris will also be holding an introductory coaching clinic for all U6 coaches. This clinic will be held on Friday night, Sept. 3rd, at Merchant Road. Please be at Merchant by 6PM on Friday, September 3 if you want to learn some of the fundamental rules of the game, learn a bit about how you can run your practices to make them interesting and fun for your players and learn some of the fundamental skills of the game and how to teach them. Chris will be providing handouts, and will be happy to answer questions.

Attention, all U8 and U10 coaches and parents! Framingham United Soccer is sponsoring free player clinics this fall lead by Mass Premier Soccer. MPS is the sponsoring organization for the Boston Renegades and the Boston Bulldogs, and have been involved with player and coach development for several years in the Boston area. So, bring your team to Merchant Road according to the schedule in the link under news and notes. The practices will be professionally developed sessions, run by MPS coaches. This is an excellent opportunity to learn how the pros coach, plus the chance for your kids to experience a professionally directed practice.

There will be NO SOCCER GAMES played on Saturday, Septemeber 18, due to the Yom Kippur Holiday. Intramural teams will instead be scheduled to play games on both the Saturday and Sunday of the following weekend. FUSC policy requires all Travel coaches to contact the opposing team to reschedule home and away games scheduled on the 18th.

Framingham United Soccer Club is proudly sponsored by Herb Connolly Chevrolet.

Welcome to Framingham United Soccer Club

Framingham United Soccer Club, FUSC, is a private soccer club that offers regular fall and spring soccer programs to Framingham residents in grade Pre-K through grade 8, age groups Under 6 (U6) to Under 14 (U14). High School, U16 and U18, age teams are organized in the spring only on an as needed basis. U16 and U18 roster spots are not guaranteed. FUSC offers a recreational, in-town, intramural soccer program and a travel soccer program as a member of the Boston Area Youth Soccer league. Both programs run for 10 weeks. The fall soccer season generally begins the first Saturday after Labor Day weekend. The spring season usually begins the second Saturday of April.

In Town Intramural Program

FUSC offers a recreational in-town soccer option in the fall and spring for the Under 6 (U6), U8, U10 and U12(fall only) age groups. The U12 program has intramural teams in the fall only. In the spring, intramural U12 players will participate as walk-ons in the BAYS division 4 travel program, as space allows. The emphasis of the in town intramural program is on having fun and learning the skills of soccer. Players are assigned to teams and have weekday practices and games on Saturdays. Games are played on a variety of soccer fields around the town. Players will be notified of their team and practice times by their assigned volunteer coach a week before the season begins. There are separate leagues for boys and girls (except the U6, Pre-K and K age group, which is combined boys and girls). The in-town intramural soccer program operates for 10 weeks.

Travel Program

FUSC is a member of the BAYS League, Boston Area Youth Soccer. BAYS currently has 47 member towns and is one of the 'town' leagues recognized by MYSA, Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association. BAYS offers two, 10 week seasons, one in the fall and one in the spring. BAYS has four travel divisions. U10, U12 and U14 BAYS games are played on Saturdays in the fall and spring. U16 and U18 teams play on Sundays and play in the spring season only to avoid conflicts with the High School teams. The standard schedule has girls playing in the morning and boys in the afternoon. Teams play five home games and five away games each season. Travel teams also required to participate in additional tournaments, typically on Labor Day, Columbus Day and Memorial Day weekends. Travel teams require a one year commitment.

FUSC holds travel team tryouts for the Under 10 (U10) through Under 14 (U14) age groups during April/May for the next soccer year. The typical player (based on age eligibility) will be in the spring of their 2nd grade (U8) year when they are eligible to tryout for the first time for U10 (Fall 3rd grade). Not all players attending tryouts may be selected to travel. Players are contacted by July 1st with the results of the tryout process. Players remain with the same team for the entire soccer year, fall and spring.
