FUSC is a member of the
BAYS League, Boston Area Youth Soccer. Currently, over 50 towns are part of the BAYS league, which is recognized by MYSA, Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association. The are two 10 week seasons, one in the fall and one in the spring. Games are played on Saturdays. The standard schedule has girls playing in the morning and boys in the afternoon. Teams play five home games and five away games each season. Travel teams also participate in additional tournaments, typically on Labor Day, Columbus Day and Memorial Day weekends. All travel teams are encouraged to play a winter session at a local indoor facility. FUSC is not affiliated with any indoor soccer programs and the cost of indoor soccer is the responsibility of the team.
The BAYS fall season is considered recreational, in that, there is no post season play. Results from the fall are used for placement purposes in the spring. The spring season is the competitive season for the older age groups (6th grade and up), eligible (division 1 and 2) teams. Division one and two teams can qualify for BAYS playoffs based on their section results, and if successful, represent BAYS in the MTOC tournament (Massachusetts Tournament of Champions) against representatives from the other leagues across the state. The MTOC tournament is held in late June to determine a State Champion. BAYS offers the Presidents Cup tournament for division 3 teams each spring.
FUSC holds travel team tryouts for 3rd - 8th graders during May/June for the next soccer year. The typical first-time player will be in the Spring of their 2nd grade when they tryout for a 3rd grade team. Not all 3rd and 4th graders will be selected to travel.
All 5th - 8th graders should attend tryouts to guarantee a place on a travel team. Previous placement on a FUSC (or other) travel team does not guarantee placement in subsequent years. Players are typically contacted by July 1st with the results of the tryout process. Players remain with the same team for the entire soccer year, fall and spring.
All travel players will wear the standard blue FUSC uniform. The cost of the uniform is not included in the cost of registration. New players please contact our uniform supplier, Natick Outdoor Store, well in advance of the start of a season (fall or spring) to make sure you have a uniform in time. Uniform numbers will be assigned randomly. Travel coaches may request the players to also purchase an alternate (white) jersey for league and tournament play. The alternative jersey eliminates the need for our players to wear pinnies when playing teams with a similar color scheme. Coaches will let the players and parents know if they are using the alternate jersey. The alternate jersey is also available at the Natick Outdoor Store
